Between October 25 and 27, 1805, Kentucky Cherokee Chiefs Doublehead and Red Bird singed the final Treaties of Tellico, ceding the land south of the Cumberland River. Doublehead was later executed by his own people, who felt they had been betrayed and sold out. In 1810, the “War Hawks” were elected to Congress.
